Description

The signage project for the Clara Campoamor Library reflects its architectural style and, like the building, uses bare materials whose original appearance can be appreciated.

The letters in the signs thus consist of corrugated steel bars anchored at strategic points to the perforations in the wood cladding.

In order to fit the signage onto the panelling, which has 12 mm diameter perforations on a 16 x 16 mm grid, a new typeface was created, which uses simple geometric shapes, taking into account the extent to which the bars can be moulded.

The La Santa typeface family (the name alludes to La Font Santa, the neighbourhood where the library is located) is a sans-serif typeface with thicker glyphs that conform to the geometric design and spacing requirements to produce easily legible lettering.

The signage, subtly integrated into the architecture, provides a strong, clear and unified image, both inside and outside the building.
